Geometry
49 x 81cm, oil on board
Geometry uses the relative arrangement of a female figure reclining on a chaise longue to contrast and balance the straight geometrical, crossing lines of the furniture with the softer organic, but similarly angled and crossing lines of the human form. The geometrical structure is further emphasised by the use of the subtly varied colours employed within the underside of the chair’s frame, mimicking the effects of stained glass.
